Sonic's Christmas Surprise was one of the best Easter eggs ever, featuring a little plastic Sonic on a ping pong paddle. It was certainly a favorite video game among those who celebrated Christmas. The story included Sonic setting his empty tree with decorations and putting on red sneakers and a hat made of donuts. There was also an advent calendar for the holiday season and after collecting all the presents, Sonic set out to surprise his house with presents! He met a game character who had a paddle cowboy hat and together they set off to find the surprise egg in the house! After finding it, they discovered another video game character inside, who presented Sonic with an amazing present!
Sonic then snowboards down a hill and splashes paint onto Dr. Robotnik's Christmas tree, causing an explosion! The scene then moves to Planet Mobius, where Sonic and his friends gather around a billboard with the words "Happy Christmas from Santa Claus". They then gather up some coconuts pieces and form the word "Santa" on the ground. As the camera pans up, we see Santa Claus flying down in his sleigh! This is the third time Sonic has appeared in an AOSTH title sequence. After delivering presents around Dr. Robotnik and Scratch, Sonic wishes everyone a Merry Christmas before flying off into the night sky.
Sonic is seen spinning, snowboarding, and even relaxing in a hammock before taking off on a hang glider. As he rides away an explosion is seen as he reaches Santa's workshop. Tails follows him and the AOSTH theme song plays as a festive version of it is heard. Sonic holds a wink before being shown the scene of Santa's workshop, then the camera zooms out with a loop used to create an image of Sonic, Tails, and Santa together. All of this happens while the song plays in the background and ends with everyone wishing each other a happy holiday season.
Sonic Twist and his friends and rivals, Dr. Eggman, Dr. Eggman Nega, and Tails are all featured in the video. There is also a villainous vision of Dr. Eggman singing a carol as he attempts to change his ways in the future. The video also retells a new version of the classic Christmas past where Sonic Rush for the annual Hanukkah Run with Tengo continued yo! La Tengo! The video is full of fun, games and presents that everyone can enjoy during this holiday season.
