To be clear, if you owned Rocket League on Steam when it went free - to play - you will still have access to it in the future. Epic has not made any changes to the main menu or other features of the game, such as multiplayer mode, but Psyonix says the coreRocket League experience will remain as long as it is freely playable - although the developer intends to revise some main menus to make it easier to explore the games. You will continue to have free access to the Epic Games Store and the Steam Store to work your way to total dominance in the world of multiplayer football, whether you own it or not.
To get into the action, you need to go to the Epic Games Store and download Rocket League for free - for everyone.
When Rocket League was released in free-to-play form, it was no longer available on Steam, but this is the first time Epic has established its store as a viable alternative to Steam on the PC.
This version of the game will be identical to the version found on other platforms, and will play cross-platform, with the ability to play Rocket League anywhere, including the Epic Games Store on Steam. The phenomenal success of the Rocket League is unlikely to be affected by the fact that Psyonix was purchased by Epic Games earlier this year, as the free-to-play features are cross-platform and existing players stay connected. Boost is a vehicle that Psy developed for the Rocket League team, along with a variety of other PsyONix vehicles.
