JQH Arena is located at 685 S. John Q. Hammons Parkway, Springfield, MO, MO, on the campus of Missouri State University. The Great Southern Bank Arena is named after the initials of John Q. Hammons, the Springfield-based real estate developer and Missouri State University graduate who donated $30 million toward construction of the arena.
The partnership to name the arena is the latest major financial contribution that a Springfield-based bank has made to MSU. The banks name is already on the arenas scoreboard, which The Great Southern Bank provided funds to buy and install, and Smart noted the bank has given annually to the Missouri State University Foundation since its founding in 1981.
At the end of announcements, 11 of the logos are displayed on the ribbon boards and the arenas scoreboard. The naming rights for JQH Arena are the property of the late John Q. With 15 years in the revenue management industry with JQH, Larsen will focus on Hilton brands and the independently owned brands in the companys award-winning domestic portfolio. Nick Larsen was formerly an area revenue manager at the Embassy Suites by Hilton properties at JQH Arkansas.
Smart said a display to commemorate the late John Q. Hammons story and contributions to Missouri State University and the Springfield-based organization would be installed at the entrance of the arena.
