In the northern Yellowstone region you can reach some of the park's highlights including Mammoth Hot Springs, Tower Falls and Lamar Valley. Gardiner, Mont., at the northern end, is the only year-round access to Yellowstone, and most are closed to cars in winter. Bordering West Yellowstone, Montana and Gardiner, the park offers affordable accommodations and a decent selection of restaurants.

At the gateway to Yellowstone, at the northern entrance to Gardiner, there are hundreds of overnight accommodations. The Yellowstone Valley Inn offers campgrounds, hotel rooms, Green Creek Inn, RV parks and motel rooms with free Wi-Fi.
Roosevelt Lodge & Cabin is the cheapest option in the park, and it's good for ants who want to run around a lot. Yellowstone National Park Lodge operates nine lodges, hotels and cabins in all styles throughout the park with more than 2,000 rooms.
To enjoy the main attractions of the park, spend one or two nights in one of the following places. The largest park lodges have extra rooms, but there are a few places with rustic cottages that have a lower price. You can choose between the Frontier Cabin Baths or the Roughrider Cabins Baths with wood-burning stove .
If it is not your style to rough it up in a tent in bear country, you can sleep for under $100 in a bed in a cozy cabin. It is difficult to find a better value for money for a National Park holiday because the low entrance fee gives you access to countless free activities in the park, such as hiking, snowshoeing, photography and wildlife viewing. In addition, most of the park's attractions are free of charge, including hiking trails, viewpoints, ranger programs and evening bonfire talks.
Junior ranger programs for children, ranger walks and evening programs in the amphitheater of the campsite are educational and inspiring programs that cover a wide range of park themes.
