The Diary Of A Wimpy Kid Movie is the book that tells the story behind making of the first movie, with new and fresh illustrations. The Wimpy Kid DIY book is the same book as The One DIY book, but features 60 extra pages and 16 full-color comics. In Albanian and some other versions, the title is Gregs Diary, rather than The Wimpy Kid Diary. A sequel to the former, the book follows directly from the earlier novel, tracing the next phase in the MAIN characters life.
Taking the perspective of a single Greg Heffleys schoolday, it charts his progression throughout the entire course of his education, seen through his eyes. In the beginning of this lavishly illustrated series, the reader is introduced to the titular main character himself. Get ready to immerse yourself in the adventures of Greg Heffley, a kid trying to become the most popular kid at his Middle School. It is the start of the school year, and Greg Heffley finds himself thrown into the middle of high school, where short, wimpy kids are sharing hallways with kids who are tall, badass, and have their hair already shaved.
It quickly becomes clear, however, that his best friend, Rowley, is getting a bit of the popularity that is been so sought, since other kids are starting to take notice of him around school. After school, Greg, carrying his backpack, tells Rowley Jefferson he should credit him with the idea that they came up with together, but Rowley says that it was him who came up with his own comic. Greg with a backpack and Rowley Jefferson begin to fight, the kids begin to root for the two, Greg starts throwing ridiculous punches, Rowley, as Greg puts it, dances around like a leprechaun, but eventually the two are set up for the fight. Greg with a backpack remembered this event, and remembered chasing down kids from the Whitley street area with the maggots, all the while wearing Rowley Jeffersons overcoat.
Greg with the backpack managed to grab Rodricks CDs, while Rowley brought his CD player to school, which did not work, and flicked their heads around to take off the headphones, but Ms. Craig caught both and said that rock and roll was evil, which upset Rowley. Greg with a backpack then revealed it is the first day of middle school, and told the readers that they would better watch their seats, as a teacher might say that your seats are permanently seated. Greg with a backpack begins the book saying he is not going to be writing about his feelings in the diary, choosing to call it the Journal rather than a diary, and states that if anyone caught him holding the book that says journal on the cover, they would be getting the wrong idea. The confessional quickly leads the MAIN character thinking he can use it to his advantage, managing to potentially create a rift between them both, which threatens to break up their relationship.
Greg Heffley from "Hard Luck" says, in his very first page, "I love my family... He then goes on to become friends with the geeky Fregley, and acts like an wise, compassionate observer as he describes his extended family and how they interact. Greg Heffley of Hard Luck displays, often, the behaviors of sociopaths, or antisocial personalities.
