On January 10, gene sequencing further established that nCoV is related to betacoronavirus. A new type of coronavirus virus has been identified in a respiratory disease outbreak that was first detected in Wuhan, China, in 2019.
Antibodies are shown in green, and different shades of red are shown in the figure below . The discovery of a therapeutic antibody that binds to nCoV, a new type of coronavirus, could help to develop better therapies as quickly as possible.
The previous nomenclature 2019 nCoV was replaced by the current name of the disease - causer of the virus, 2019 Coronavirus . Public health concerns are always a major concern in view of the development of new viruses and their potential impact on human health. The current COID 19 outbreak should be taken seriously and closely monitored, as should any future outbreaks.
Scientists in China have sequenced and made available the virus genome, but the complete genome has not been sequenced since April. Scientists have taken much longer to sequence the coronavirus than the SARS outbreak that began in late 2002. The first sequence of the genome of COID-19, the first human genome, was achieved in February 2003 and sequenced in April 2004.
The clinical symptoms caused by the infection were fever, headache, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, muscle pain and joint pain. The novel coronavirus, provisionally named 2019 - the "2019" or "novel CoronaVirus" " has been identified as the cause of the disease that broke out in Wuhan, China, in the early 1990s.
The human population is generally vulnerable to nCoV, but pregnant women are more likely to be in a particular state of immune suppression. The NCOV outbreak became known in Wuhan on the last day of December and has since surpassed 900 cases worldwide, while several countries, including the United States , have confirmed imported cases.
Unlike SARS , which spread from one person to more than 8,000 people, most patients infected with nCoV were healthy, with only 13 of 32 patients suffering from underlying diseases. About half of the patients also suffered from respiratory distress , 13 of whom were admitted to intensive care. It is unusual for a patient with severe respiratory distress syndrome or respiratory tract infections to develop an acute lung with respiratory failure , but it is not uncommon in the general population.
The reported cases ranged from mild illnesses similar to the common cold to severe pneumonia requiring hospitalization. Symptoms of the new Coronavirus 2019 occur within two to 14 days of ingestion and include fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat, headache and muscle pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain. In addition, people infected with the new coronvirus can be infected through contact with infected people, such as those who have travelled to China in the past 14 weeks or have been exposed there in the last 14 months.
As with all people who suffer from any disease, patients who may be affected by the virus should be treated with compassion, according to the World Health Organization.
There are currently no specific treatments for this new virus, but existing anti-viruses can be redirected.
The Novel Coronavirus is a strain of the virus that was first identified in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China, and did not spread to humans until December 2019. However, the virus is related to the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus , the related respiratory disease in the Middle East and the related severe acute lung syndrome coronavirus of the subgenera sarbecovirus. The coronavirus spreads through breathing droplets that are produced when coughing or sneezing. In order to be infected, people usually have to be within a six-metre radius of someone who is contagious and must come into contact with the droplet. Although little is known about this new virus, health experts are monitoring the situation because it has the potential to cause severe respiratory diseases in humans and severe acute respiratory syndrome.
